Taking care of ourselves and each other.
March 16, 2020
Yes, the Covid-19 virus has arrived and is here to stay with us at least for a while. It is now everyone’s job to stay safe and healthy. By taking awesome care of ourselves we are also taking care of each other! This is not a “Me” moment but rather an “Us” moment. The times are definitely a chang’in. We now have to relearn how to wash our hands, scratch an itch, and greet each other, without using our hands.
No doubt this is an unique time and place in our history. Most of the world is literally taking a break from their routine daily lives. Although this is a deadly serious matter I invite you to consider it also as an opportunity to S L O O W our hectic lives down. Instead of getting depressed while listening to the news all the time or reading Facebook postings I invite you to do stuff that feeds your soul and lifts you above the energetic fray of uncertainty and fear.
Our technology makes it easier than ever to transcend physical limitations. Reach out and connect with people you care about (via phone or video) or just take some time to be with yourself! Go be adventurous in nature! Get creative! Help a neighbor! Have some downtime fun with your kids!
I challenge you to set an intention of what you want to create or achieve in the next 6 weeks or so. Then, Go For It!
Make some lemonade for yourself and share it!

Brene Brown nailed it when she said 'We are not suppose to help ourselves, we are suppose to help each other.' So often we think we have to solve our problems and deal with our circumstances by ourselves. Shame often gets in the way of us asking for help and support when we are struggling. Most often 'doing it all by ourselves' leads to living inauthentic, unhappy lives that are filled with frustration, disappointment and judgement. Sometimes it seems we forget that we are suppose to need help from each other! Humans are designed to be social and interdependent beings within a community. A community where love, acceptance, belonging and connection thrives will erode our self- perpetuating shame beliefs. It will transform our individual lives and our collective humanity!
